Always a Fan

We're hug Gonzaga fans...no matter where we live. With Jared being an Alum, we have a definite connect and love for the Zags and we love to watch their games. We were fortunate to always get to go to games in Spokane and since living in So. Cal. we've made the effort every year to see the Zags play down here. Many of the other teams in the WCC are within an hour from us in Loma Linda, so last year we went to the San Diego game and this year we went out to Malibu and watched the GU/Pepperdine game last Saturday. We took my boss, Dr. Fitzpatrick and his wife because his daughter is a junior at GU and he's always wanted to see a Gonzaga game. So, we made his dream came true and had a great time. Oh...and we killed 'em which made for an even better game :)

1. San Deigo 2. Valentines 3. Birthday boy

1. We went to San Diego/Coronado Island for the first part of our long weekend for some family time with Dad, Debbie and Kim. Dad and Debbie were there for the week vacationing and getting their week of golf in February to hold them over until the golf courses in Spokane open up. Had a wonderful time...San Diego is such a beautiful place!

This was our view from our dinner table on Saturday night! We went to Il Fornaio to celebrate Jared's birthday (he loves authentic Italian food) and it is located on Coronado Island, which looks back to the San Diego skyline. This ship passed by as we were eating dinner- talk about a nice dinner with an incredible view!

Tiramisu...my mouth is watering remembering how good it was!

Spent a good part of Saturday afternoon on the beach. The weather was beautiful this weekend - perfect for some relaxation and beach frisbee.

Walked all around the famous Hotel del Coronado. Cute shops, restaurants and a gorgeous beach.

2. My husband is the most creative Valentine and I love it! He made this "bouquet" of strawberry flowers for me and danced with me in the kitchen to a couple great love songs. He makes me feel so special!

3. Here he is...the birthday boy. Today is Jared's birthday and we celebrated with a nice picnic and hike into the Loma Linda hills. Jared got this Coaches-for-Cancer shirt from his Dad and Debbie for his birthday (Go Zags!) and we had to get a picture with it at the summit of our hike. Happy Birthday Jared! You're THE coolest guy I know and I am blessed to have you as my husband!

Student Dedication Ceremony

Every year Loma Linda has a Student Dedication Cermony where the D1's (first year dental students) receive personalized, engraved Bibles, and the D4's (senior dental students) receive their personalized white coats. It's a very special evening, held at the University Church, where they ask the students to dedicate their schooling and professional career as a dentist to the Lord, and have the students recite a pledge of character. All 3...yes 3, sets of parents came out for the weekend for the event, with an awesome surprise from Jared's mentor, Dr. Grummons, who also showed up. (He is amazing...have we ever said how much we love him and appreciate his encouragement and support in our lives? He is such an incredible example!) The ceremony was so memorable and the weekend spent with our parents that we love SO much was one to remember!

My friend Phylicia. Her boyfriend, Tim (aka Jared's brother-from-a-different-mother), is one of Jared's classmates and we met when she came out in October to see Tim. We're instant friends...she goes to school at Southern in Tennessee, but will hopefully be moving out to Loma Linda this spring. Exicted about that!!! :)

Jared's class

This is the Bible Jared received...sweet of him to include me!

We went to Macaroni Grill with all of our parents after the ceremony and enjoyed a delicious meal courtesy of Dr. Grummons generosity and thoughtfulness. We took this pic to say thanks!
