Saturday A.M. walks & Vesper Dinner

Last night was very fun- we went to a vesper dinner (which is where faculty/dentists invite students over to their homes for dinner and fellowship). We went to the director of Jared's program, Dr. Tan's home and had a lovely time. He and his wife live up on a ridge in Redlands and the view from their home was amazing. They served a staple meal down here called Haystacks, which are Fritos layered with vegetarian chili, cheese and all the taco fixings you can think of. They were delicious and all the students loved it. There were 14 of us and we all had a great time togehter. There was of course a lot of "dental" talk, but with working at the dental school, I am surprisingly learning the "jargon" and able to get in on the conversations. It was a great evening and we're excited for the next one. It really makes you feel conected down here!

Saturday mornings Jared and I usually take a morning walk together. Today we decided to bring the camera with us (I got to be the photographer) :) and take some pictures of Loma Linda so you all could see where we live and what's down here. It's our first cloudy day down here and it's still beautiful! Feels so nice to have a cooler day! We took mostly pictures of the campus, but the campus is basically the main show in Loma Linda.

The chapel in the middle of the campus

View of the front of the dental school...I work on the third floor.
Birds of Paradise...all over down here.
Drayson Center- this is a huge workout facility on campus that as a student and employee we get free access to.
This is where we are on the really hot days.
View of the medical school- to the left is the cancer institute and to the right is the medical school. The column-like buildings in the back are the hospitals- children's and regular.
A chopper landing at Children's Hospital. I swear there are at least 3-4 helicopters that land everyday either at the Main or Children's hospital (sometimes in the middle of the night). You can hear them as they fly in and it's really cool to watch them land.
